Early-life: Melanie Jane Hill was born on January 11, 1962 in Sunderland. She attended Monkwearmouth School before going on to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Her earliest TV credits include Juliet Bravo and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.
Career: Hill's career has focussed largely on British TV. She played Aveline in Bread from 1989 to 1991, Marie Carver in The Bill and Avril Kent in Emmerdale, to name some of her roles. She has also made some film appearances, including in Brassed Off (1996), Stardust (2007) and White Girl (2008). She joined the cast of Waterloo Road in 2012, playing Maggie, and stayed until the series ended three years later. Since 2015, she has played Cathy Matthews in Coronation Street.

Trivia: She was married to Sean Bean between 1990 and 1997. They have two daughters.

Early-life: Born June 24, 1973 in Kilburn, London. Charles was passionate about athletics as a boy but later studied performing arts at Hammersmith and West London College. Originally, he took various roles under the name Chucky Venice.
Career: Venn's breakthrough role was as Curtis Alexander in the Sky football drama Dream Team, which he performed from 2003 to 2005. Next, he moved to ITV's primetime football drama Footballer's Wives, where he played Tremaine Gidigbi for the final season. Venn has had roles in a number of films, including Return to House on Haunted Hill (2007), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and The Dark Knight (2008). He appeared in TV series The Brothers as Richard and later joined the cast of Eastenders as Ray Dixon between 2012 and 2013. He made his debut on Casualty in July, 2015 before becoming a series regular.

Born: October 14, 1940 in Bala, north Wales
Best Known For: Being James Herriot in All Creatures Great and Small.
Early-life: Born 14 October, 1940 in Bala, north Wales, the son of Andrew Timothy, an Army chaplain-turned-BBC announcer who was also the straightman on The Goon Show. He was brought up in Shrewsbury, bitten by the acting bug at an early age, and encouraged to take it up professionally by his father. Timothy trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, and claims he smelled of chips throughout his course due to a part-time job in a transport cafe.
Career: Parts in the films Othello (1965) and The Virgin Soldiers (1968) were followed by TV shows UFO, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em and Van der Valk. In 1978, he landed the role of James Herriot in All Creatures Great and Small, becoming one of the most popular actors on British TV. The series returned in the early Nineties but Timothy later blamed it for typecasting him. He has narrated the hit docusoap Vets in Practice and can be seen in the BBC's daytime medical drama, Doctors, in which he plays Dr Brendan 'Mac' Maguire. He's also directed some episodes of the show and an edition of The Afternoon Play.
