About this Broadcast

Family comedy based on the children's novel by David Walliams. Twelve-year-old Chloe leads a lonely existence - her mother is too busy with her political ambitions to take any interest in her daughter, her hen-pecked dad is hiding a secret of his own and she cannot hope to compete with her 'perfect' younger sister - to say nothing of the nasty girls who make her school life a misery. So when she meets a tramp in need of somewhere to stay, she invites him to hide in her family's garden shed - but it soon turns out there is more to her smelly guest than meets the eye. Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville stars, with Sheridan Smith, Johnny Vegas and Isabella Blake-Thomas, and an appearance from Britain's Got Talent winner Pudsey the dog

Hugh Bonneville (Actor) .. Mr Stink
Born: November 10, 1963 in London
Best Known For: Downton Abbey.
Early-life: Born Hugh Richard Bonneville Williams on November 10, 1963, in London. When he was younger he was often mistaken for rugby hero Will Carling. After leaving school with good exam results, he was accepted by Cambridge University, where he was taught theology by Dr Rowan Williams, the former Archbishop of Canterbury. "Everything he said went completely over my head," says Bonneville of Williams's lectures. He originally wanted to be a lawyer, but decided to tread the boards instead.
Career: Following a spell on stage, Bonneville made his TV debut in teen sitcom Dodgem. He spent the next few years dividing his time between theatre, TV and film work, having small parts in such projects as The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, Cadfael, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Tomorrow Never Dies, Bugs, and Mosley. He had a regular role in sitcom Holding the Baby, but finally became a recognisable face thanks to the movie Notting Hill in 1999. Since then he's appeared in The Cazalets, Madame Bovary, The Gathering Storm, Tipping the Velvet, Doctor Zhivago, Twenty Twelve, and Love Again. He won rave reviews for his role in the TV comedy Freezing and Filth: The Mary Whitehouse Story. However, he's become a TV superstar on both sides of the Atlantic in recent years thanks to his starring role in period drama Downton Abbey. Recent projects have included W1A and The Monuments Men.
Quote: "I was once congratulated in Oxford Street for my brilliant portrayal of Mr Darcy, so apparently I looked like Colin Firth when I had curly hair. I reckon I could play him in a biopic."
Trivia: He is a patron of the London children's charity Scene & Heard and medical relief charity Medical Emergency Relief International.
Sheridan Smith (Actor) .. Mum
Johnny Vegas (Actor) .. Dad
Born: September 11, 1971 in St Helens, Lancashire
Best Known For: His hoarse voice.
Early-life: Born Michael Joseph Pennington in St Helens, Lancashire, on September 11, 1971, he's the youngest of four children. As a child, he wanted to be a priest, and joined a seminary at the age of 11, but left after four terms. He then attended an all-boys grammar school before studying art and ceramics at Middlesex University. Following his graduation, he worked in a bar and went through periods of being unemployed before trying comedy, performing as the character of failed potter and disillusioned entertainer Johnny Vegas.
Career: Vegas's big break came in 1997 when he was nominated for the prestigious Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Festival. He made his TV debut in the one-off Johnny Vegas TV Show the following year. In 2001, he landed a role in the Paul Whitehouse sitcom Happiness, which won him the Best Newcomer trophies at the Royal Television Society and British Comedy Awards, although it was arguably his appearance in a series of cult adverts with a sock monkey for ITV Digital that made him a household name. Since then, he's been a regular panellist on Shooting Stars, acted in series Tipping the Velvet, Bleak House, Dead Man Weds, Ideal, Massive, Benidorm, Still Open All Hours and presented his own show, 18 Stone of Idiot. He was also in Johnny Depp film The Libertine and The Harry Hill Movie.
Quote: "This is a good job that gives us a good life, you can't expect to turn that off when it suits you."
Trivia: Vegas released an autobiography, Becoming Johnny Vegas, in 2013.
David Walliams (Actor) .. Prime Minister
Born: August 20, 1971 in Nork, Surrey
Best Known For: Little Britain.
Early-life: Born David Edward Williams in Merton, Greater London on August 20, 1971, to father Peter, a London Transport engineer, and mother Kathleen, a lab technician. He was educated at Collingwood Primary School and Reigate Grammar School. He showed a flair for performance and became a member of the National Youth Theatre, which is where he met Matt Lucas. Walliams then studied drama at the University of Bristol. He changed his name when he joined Equity, as there was already a member named David Williams.
Career: Walliams' TV debut came in Sky One's Games World in 1993. In 1995 he and Lucas teamed up for the first of three shows at the Edinburgh Festival. They also made Rock Profiles for UKTV, in which they parodied famous musicians. But it was Little Britain that made them stars in 2003; they followed it up with Come Fly with Me. Walliams has also appeared in films such as Run, Fatboy, Run, Dinner for Schmucks and The Look of Love, and on stage in No Man's Land. He's swum the English Channel, the Strait of Gibraltar with James Cracknell and a 140-mile stretch of the River Thames, all in aid of Sport Relief. Walliams joined the judging panel of Britain's Got Talent in 2012, and is the executive producer and star of the Agatha Christie adaptation Partners in Crime.
Quote: "I'm terribly attention-seeking. It's very different once you get all this attention, though. Because then you want to control it. And you can't, exactly."
Trivia: He has written several best-selling children's books.

Best Known For: The League of Gentlemen and Benidorm.
Early-life: Steve James Pemberton was born on September 1, 1967, in Blackburn, Lancashire. He first realised he wanted to be an actor while still at school, and his first role was playing Peter in The Diary of Anne Frank at the Chorley Little Theatre - although he admits he was the only boy who auditioned. Following his A levels, he gained a Theatre Arts degree from Bretton Hall College in Yorkshire, where he met Reece Shearsmith and Mark Gatiss who, along with Jeremy Dyson, became The League of Gentlemen.
Career: Pemberton began his professional career on stage, but suffered a setback when he had a heart attack at the age of 25 while working in Germany. He went on to feature in Ken Russell's Alice in RussiaLand in 1995, but it was The League of Gentleman that was his first major success, first on radio, then on TV and film. He also appeared in the remake of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased), Gormenghast, Shameless, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers and Blackpool. The latter co-starred David Tennant, and the duo were reunited in 2008 for a two-part Doctor Who adventure. Other projects include the Woody Allen film Match Point, Lassie, Psychoville, and Benidorm.
