About this Broadcast

The Golden Age

Alastair Sooke looks at art from one of Ancient Egypt's most opulent eras, beginning with the troubling psychological portraits of tyrant Senwosret III, who ruled during the Middle Kingdom, through to the golden mask of Tutankhamun, which was created hundreds of years later. He also explores architectural wonders, exquisite tombs and a lost city, where an artistic revolution took place and a new creative style was developed under Akhenaten and Nefertiti
