Juliet Stevenson (Actor) .. Nora Helmer
Born: October 30, 1956 in Kelvedon, Essex
Best Known For: Truly Madly Deeply.
Early-life: Juliet Anne Virginia Stevenson was born in Essex on October 30, 1956, the youngest child of a brigadier and his teacher wife. Her childhood was spent in many different countries, including Australia, Malta and Germany. "I didn't come from anywhere, which is strange," she says. "Acting is full of refugees from everything - class, race, sexuality." On leaving school she enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she studied alongside such luminaries as Jonathan Pryce, Alan Rickman, Kenneth Branagh and Imelda Staunton. After completing her studies, she was snapped up by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Career: Stevenson had appeared as most of Shakespeare's famous heroines by the time she was 30. As a result, she was hailed as the new Peggy Ashcroft, a label she hated and prompted her decision to leave the RSC. Her first TV role came in The Mallens in 1980. She made her first film, Drowning By Numbers, in 1988. The romantic drama Truly Madly Deeply introduced her to a wider audience in 1991. Since then she's returned to the stage numerous times, usually to great acclaim. Her distinguished CV includes diverse projects such as The Politician's Wife, Cider with Rosie, Bend it Like Beckham, Nicholas Nickleby, Mona Lisa Smile, Pierrepoint, and The Hour. Most recently she's been seen on the small screen in White Heat, The Village and Atlantis.
Quote: "I'm hardly Hollywood material. They're interested in youth and perfection and I lay no claims to either. It's not a place that's particularly interested in talent."
Trivia: She has voiced a number of audio recordings, including Hamlet, The King's General, A Room with a View, and Middlemarch.
Trevor Eve (Actor) .. Torvald Helmer
Born: July 01, 1951 in Birmingham
Best Known For: Playing 1970s detective Shoestring.
Early-life: Trevor John Eve was born on July 1, 1951, in Birmingham, but was raised in Wales. His father was a drinks wholesaler who was 50 when Eve was born. His mother was 15 years younger. He describes his dad as the most frugal man he's ever met, who saved hard to pay for his education. Eve was disappointed to miss out on being captain of his school cricket team, but knew he was never good enough to turn professional. Instead, he decided to become an artist, but later trained as an architect. He never acted until applying to Rada, and to his surprise, they accepted him.
Career: Eve made his professional debut at the Liverpool Playhouse as Paul McCartney in Willy Russell's John, Paul, George, Ringo - and Bert. Singled out for praise, it demonstrated his early promise. He then appeared in West End production Filumena before playing the roguish private eye Shoestring on TV in 1979, the part that made him a household name and a heart-throb. Laurence Olivier was a fan, and hired Eve to star in his TV series Best Plays. Memorable work since includes The Politician's Wife, A Sense of Guilt, Troy, The Family Man and the brilliant BBC drama Waking the Dead, which ended in 2011 after nine series. His other notable work includes playing game show host Hughie Green in Hughie Green, Most Sincerely, the 2010 ITV remake of Bouquet of Barbed Wire, and three-part drama Kidnap and Ransom. He has also worked and lived in the US, but is now settled in London.
Quote: "It's astonishing that people connected to solving crime do the job day after day. I don't know how they escape or where they go for rest and relaxation."
Geraldine James (Actor) .. Kristine Linde
Patrick Malahide (Actor) .. Dr Rank
Born: March 24, 1945 in Reading

Early-life: Born Patrick Gerald Duggan in Reading on March 24, 1945. In 1976, he made his TV acting debut in The Flight of the Heron. Since then, the prolific character actor has appeared in a number of TV shows.
Career: Perhaps best known for playing Detective Sergeant Chisholm in the hugely popular ITV comedy drama Minder, Malahide's credits also include The Singing Detective, Middlemarch, Alleyn Mysteries, Five Days, Law & Order: UK, The Paradise and Hunted. More recently, he has starred in Game of Thrones, Indian Summers and Luther. His film credits include The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), The World is Not Enough (1999) and Billy Elliot (2000). Quote: "If I'm walking past a building site, I get `Oi, Chisholm" from Minder fans. But if I go to a library, a female librarian will flutter her eyelashes at me because she remembers Middlemarch."
