Born: March 28, 1957 in Morley, Leeds
Best Known For: Being Liz McDonald in Coronation Street.
Early-life: Born Beverley Jane Moxon in Leeds in 1957. Her father was a baker and her mum was a concert pianist, and she has a younger sister, Stephanie. Beverley showed a passion for drama from a young age and made her stage debut when she was just seven, but didn't originally plan to make it her career. When she left school, she worked as a shorthand typist, before deciding to try her luck as an actress. After turning professional, she appeared in the stage productions of Hay Fever, Billy Liar and Snow White.
Career: Callard made her TV debut in Emmerdale in 1983, where she dated the show's heartthrob, Jackie Merrick. The following year she appeared in Coronation Street as Gail and Brian Tilsley's friend, June Dewhurst. Five years later, she returned to Weatherfield in the more substantial role of Liz McDonald and remained there for nine years. She went on to release a fitness video and starred in Casualty, The Peter Principle, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crips and Mile High, before heading back to the Street in 2003. In 2006, Liz became the landlady of the Rovers. Beverley departed the Street again in 2011, only to return for another stint in October 2013. In 2010, Beverley was a recurring panellist on Loose Women.
Quote: 'I love getting dressed up in Liz's outfits, but I do plead for longer skirts.'
Trivia: Callard has released a number of fitness DVDs.
