Best Known For: Being a singer.
Early-life: Daniel Francis Noel O'Donnell was born in the village of Kincasslagh in County Donegal on December 12, 1961 to Julia and Francis. He has four siblings, John, Margaret, Kathleen and James. Daniel was just six when his father died from a heart attack. As a youngster, Daniel sang in a local choir. In 1980, he went to Galway to study business studies but it wasn't long before he was performing in his sister Margo's band.
Career: In 1983, O'Donnell used his own money to record his first solo single, My Donegal Shore. Later that year, he formed his own group, Country Fever. After the group disbanded, he formed the Grassroots. By the mid-1990s, O'Donnell had become a household name across Ireland and the UK. He has sold more than 10 million records. In August 2015, it was announced that he would be a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
Quote: "When I dance on stage during my shows, I am never on the same spot two nights in a row, so I obviously have to be a little bit more choreographed for Strictly."
Trivia: In 1989, O'Donnell was named Donegal Person of the Year. He was awarded an honorary MBE in 2002 for his services to the music industry.
