The adventurer travels along the Ganges to explore how India's booming economy has affected its religious culture, starting his journey at the source of the river in the foothills of the Himalayas and following it to where it empties out into the Bay of Bengal. Along the way, he meets westerners in Rishikesh seeking spiritual enlightenment, takes a dip in the fast-flowing waters at Haridwar and discovers how the river is being severely polluted in Kanpur, where it is alleged that cows are secretly being slaughtered to fuel a booming leather trade

Simon Reeve (Presenter)
Born: July 21, 1972 in London
Best Known For: His BBC travel documentaries.
Early-life: Simon was born in London on July 21, 1972. He had a number of jobs after leaving school, including working in a supermarket and a charity shop. In 2001, he began making travel documentaries for the BBC.
Career: Reeve's travel documentaries for the BBC include Meet the Stans, Equator, Tropic of Capricorn, Explore, Indian Ocean, Australia with Simon Reeve, Sacred Rivers with Simon Reeve, Ireland with Simon Reeve and Greece with Simon Reeve. While working as an investigative reporter, he wrote books about Osama bin Laden and the Munich massacre that took place during the 1972 Summer Olympics.

Trivia: After catching malaria, Reeve became an ambassador for the Malaria Awareness Campaign.
