The adventurer travels to China for a trip along the Yangtze, Asia's longest river and the third longest in the world. He follows the route to Dazu, where he sees 50,000 ancient rock carvings, some of the only religious artefacts not to have been destroyed under communist rule. He then takes a river cruise to the Three Gorges Dam - the biggest power station on the planet - before ending his journey in Shanghai, a shining symbol of China's new economic might and a city where many are rediscovering religious faith

Simon Reeve (Presenter)
Born: July 21, 1972 in London
Best Known For: His BBC travel documentaries.
Early-life: Simon was born in London on July 21, 1972. He had a number of jobs after leaving school, including working in a supermarket and a charity shop. In 2001, he began making travel documentaries for the BBC.
Career: Reeve's travel documentaries for the BBC include Meet the Stans, Equator, Tropic of Capricorn, Explore, Indian Ocean, Australia with Simon Reeve, Sacred Rivers with Simon Reeve, Ireland with Simon Reeve and Greece with Simon Reeve. While working as an investigative reporter, he wrote books about Osama bin Laden and the Munich massacre that took place during the 1972 Summer Olympics.

Trivia: After catching malaria, Reeve became an ambassador for the Malaria Awareness Campaign.
