Brendan O'Carroll (Actor) .. Agnes Brown
Born: September 15, 1955 in Dublin
Best Known For: Mrs Brown's Boys.
Early-life: O'Carroll was born on 15 September, 1955, in Dublin's North Inner City and was the youngest of 11 children. His mother, Maureen, was a Labour Party official and he says this has had a huge impact on his life. He left school aged 12 and had a string of occupations including waiter, milkman, DJ, before making the move to comedy. Much of his comedy is about his childhood in Finglas and Dublin City.
Career: He has appeared in many movies and TV shows over the years and has had parts in Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere, Angela's Ashes, Agnes Browne alongside Anjelica Huston (for which he also wrote the screenplay), Sweety Barret with Brendan Gleeson, Britain's Fattest Man and The Van. O'Carroll has written seven novels, including The Mammy, The Chisselers, The Granny, The Scrapper (originally published as 'Sparrows Trap') and The Young Wan. He is best known for playing Agnes Brown in the sitcom Mrs Brown's Boys.
Quote: 'Mrs Brown was first written for radio. I wrote it for a radio series in 1992. It was a five-minute piece for radio and it's been absolutely astonishing.'
Trivia: O'Carroll supports Manchester United and Liverpool FC.
Jennifer Gibney (Actor) .. Cathy Brown
Best Known For: Mrs Brown's Boys.
Early-life: Gibney was born in Dublin and trained to be an actress at Dublin Oscar Theatre School. After appearing in a production of Goodbye to the Hill, Brendan O'Carroll invited her to join his theatre company.
Career: Gibney is best known for her work with O'Carroll. She has co-produced his stand-up DVDs, been the assistant director on all of his plays and co-directed the original series of Mrs Brown's Boys for RTE. She has also starred in everything he has written. Gibney stars alongside O'Carroll in the hugely popular BBC reworking of Mrs Brown's Boys. A film version, Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie, was released in 2014. In 2014, Gibney signed up to be a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
Quote: On becoming a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing: 'As a child I wrote to Blue Peter asking could I dance with Pan's People. Now at last I get a chance to earn my badge - excited doesn't cover it!'
Trivia: Gibney married O'Carroll in 2005. Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie was a box-office success and a sequel is planned.
