Early-life: Blake Ellender Brown was born in Los Angeles on August 25, 1987 into a showbiz family. Her father Eric is an actor, her mother Elaine is a talent manager and her older brother Eric, half-sisters Lori and Robyn and half-brother Jason are all actors. On the insistence of her brother Eric, Blake started attending auditions and one of these led to her being cast in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005).

Career: Other films followed for Lively before her big break came in 2007 when she began playing Serena van der Woodsen in the teen drama Gossip Girl. It ran for 121 editions over six seasons. Outside of Gossip Girl, Lively had roles in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (2008), New York, I Love You (2008), The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009), The Town (2010), Green Lantern (2011), Hick (2011) and Savages (2012).
