The competition begins at Langsmeade House in Thame, Oxfordshire, where Dutch-born owner Marianne Abben and her housekeeper Fran Birch hope to demonstrate that their B&B offers the best value for money. The pair's quirky hosting style proves a hit with some of their guests, before others reveal their competitive side during a Charleston dance lesson
The owners visit the Stratford House Guesthouse in Stratford-upon-Avon on their second outing, where couple Natasha and Dai Pollock hope to impress their peers. But things do not run smoothly, as the guests are left unimpressed with the decor and discover nasty surprises in some of the drawers
The third B&B of the week is pet-friendly Edmund House in Deal, Kent, where owner Michael Prime is joined by his mum Lorna. On arrival, Marianne Abben and Fran Birch love the seaside-inspired room, but entrepreneur Mark Genders is far from thrilled by the 'no frills' experience. Over dinner, tensions run high after self-confessed trouble-maker Marianne asks Mark to reveal which of the group he would and would not employ, and Lorna gets short shrift when she puts forward her application
Entrepreneur Mark Genders welcomes the contestants to the Five Bells Pub in Berkshire and hopes they will approve of his small but perfectly formed rooms. He organises an ale-tasting activity, although it fails to please all of his guests. Michael and Lorna admit they have seen a new side of Mark - however, will it affect their feedback?
The B&B owners settle some scores and discover how much they have been paid, before the winner is revealed. Marianne and Fran from Langsmeade House begin by explaining that their worn rug is in fact a 200-year-old antique, Natasha and Dal from Stratford House confront Michael and Lorna about their strong language and cleaning techniques, while Mark Genders compares his experience at Edmund House to flying with a low budget airline

The owners spend their second night of the competition at the Magna Carta at Windsor in Berkshire, a five-star floating bed and breakfast run by Captain Dominic Read. The guests are pleasantly surprised upon arrival, but not all are impressed by the standard of the accommodation - and a cracked teapot at the breakfast table leads to trouble for the proprietor
The third B&B of the week is Ash Cottage near Leeds Castle in Kent, where the unusual decor is an eye-opener for the guests but is not everyone's cup of tea. Trish and Tom get heated over the instant coffee before owners Rayne and Chris Deal take their fellow contestants to Chatham Dockyard to try their hands at rope-making
The final guest house of the week is A Room with a View in Brighton, where owner Stephen Bull and housekeeper Joanna Harris hope their nine-room establishment will impress the contestants. Things get off to a good start when Rayne and Chris Deal are impressed by the cleanliness of the property, but things take a turn for the worse when breakfast gets the thumbs down
The B&B owners come together to confront their critics face-to-face. Hosts of Trecarne House in Cornwall Trish and Tom Brock-Morgan raise issues with Magna Carta's Dominic Read on his mark for their hosting, while he has a bone to pick with them over criticism of his five-star floating B&B.
