Early-life:
Thomas William Selleck was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 29, 1945 to Martha and Robert. His family moved to Sherman Oaks, California during his childhood. A talented athlete, Tom attended the University of Southern California on a basketball scholarship. He went on to study acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and was serving as a soldier in the California National Guard when he was activated for the Watts riots in Los Angeles in 1965.
Career:
Selleck won small parts in films and TV shows during the 1970s until his big break came in 1979 when he was cast in the lead role in detective series Magnum, PI. The popular series earned him an Emmy and a Golden Globe and it ran for eight seasons, clocking up 162 editions. He went on to star alongside Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg in the box-office smash Three Men and a Baby (1987), had a recurring role in the sitcom Friends during the 1990s and since 2005, he has played lawman Jesse Stone in a series of TV movies based on novels by Robert B Parker. Since 2010, he has played Frank Reagan in police drama Blue Bloods.

Selleck turned down the role of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark to honour the contract he had just signed for Magnum, PI.

Early-life:
Born Shannen Maria Doherty on April 12, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee. Her father works in a bank, her mother owns a beauty parlour. She has an older brother, Sean. Her family moved to Los Angeles when Shannen was seven. At 10 she made her TV debut in Father Murphy. Despite having a blossoming acting career, she concentrated on her studies, but was regarded as a loner.
Career:
By the time she was 11, Doherty had built up a remarkable CV, with appearances in such projects as The Secret of Nimh, Night Shift, and Little House on the Prairie. She seamlessly moved into more adult roles, thanks to Our House and Heathers, before landing the part of Brenda in Beverly Hills, 90210, which made her name. After four years she left the show under a cloud. She also reportedly upset director William Friedkin while working with him on movie Jailbreakers. TV show Charmed proved a hit in 1998, but she left after allegedly falling out with co-star Alyssa Milano. She returned to the role of Brenda in the 2008 remake of 90210.

Trivia:
