The drama also follows the Preen family, who went in search of answers after their eight-year-old daughter died after playing on a beach where a nearby pipe had been discharging. David Thewlis (Actor) .. Ashley Smith
Born: March 20, 1963 in Blackpool, Lancashire
Best Known For: Playing Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter films.
Early-life: Born David Wheeler on March 20, 1963 in Blackpool, Lancashire to Maureen (nee Thewlis) and Alex Raymond Wheeler. He lived above his parents' shop during his childhood. As a teenager, David played in rock band QED and punk rock band Door 66. He travelled to London with Door 66 and ended up enrolling at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, which he graduated from in 1984.
Career: Thewlis had a number of minor roles in films and TV series, including an episode of Only Fools and Horses, until he landed his breakout role in Naked (1993). During the 1990s, he appeared in such films as Black Beauty (1994), Total Eclipse (1995), DragonHeart (1996), Seven Years in Tibet (1997), Divorcing Jack (1998) and The Big Lebowski (1998). Thewlis was cast as Remus Lupin in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) and went on to appear in the next four films in the series. His other credits include Kingdom of Heaven (2005), The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008), The Lady (2011), Macbeth (2015), Wonder Woman (2017) and the TV series Fargo.

Jason Watkins (Actor) .. Peter Hammond
Born: July 30, 1963 in Albrighton near Wolverhampton
Best Known For: Trollied, and The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies.
Early-life: Jason Barrington Watkins was born in Albrighton near Wolverhampton on July 30th, 1963 to Alan and Avis. His father is from Cleethorpes and his mother is from Manchester. Jason was brought up in London. Drama teachers at his Hounslow comprehensive encouraged him to pursue a career in acting. He was accepted into Rada at the same time as Ralph Fiennes, Jane Horrocks and Neil Dudgeon.
Career: Watkins has played supporting roles for most of his career. He has made guest appearances in Soldier Soldier, Casualty, The Bill, William and Mary, Life on Mars, and Lewis among many others. In 2011, he began playing store manager Gavin Strong in Sky1 sitcom Trollied. In 2014, he played his first lead role in The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies. His film credits include Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), Onegin (1999), Confetti (2006), The Golden Compass (2007), Wild Child (2008), Lost Christmas (2011), and Nativity 3: Dude, Where's My Donkey?! (2014).
Quote: 'I got quite close to the world record, when I was about 12 or 13, of running the length of a basketball court on my hands.'
Trivia: Watkins was nominated for an Olivier award in 2001 for his performance in A Servant for Two Masters.

Best Known For: Dead Ringers and The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson.
Early-life: Jonathan Peter Culshaw was born in Ormskirk, Lancashire, on June 2, 1968. He was educated at St Bede's RC High School, Ormskirk, and St John Rigby RC Sixth Form College, Orrell. His radio career began in hospital radio in his home town. His first job was at Red Rose Radio (now Rock FM) in Preston in 1987, where even then he used to occasionally read the weather in the voice of Frank Bruno. He did voice-over work but was catapulted to prominence with Spitting Image, where he voiced around 40 characters.
Career: After hospital radio, Culshaw served his media apprenticeship as a DJ at several commercial stations, but rose to fame in January 1998 during his time at Capital Radio when his phone call got put through to then-prime minister Tony Blair while impersonating Tory leader of the time William Hague. The two had a lengthy conversation before the penny dropped. Between 2001 and 2002 he had a programme on ITV called Alter Ego where he interviewed male celebrities in their own style of speaking. On ITV he also appeared on 2DTV, then The Impressionable Jon Culshaw, before finding his real niche with the BBC series Dead Ringers. He took part in Celebrity Fame Academy in 2005, where he met Debra Stephenson, with whom he starred in The Impressions Show.
Quote: 'By 16 I realised my occupation would be something to do with performance. It was clear I'd be rubbish at a proper job.'
Trivia: In 2013, Culshaw appeared in The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot, a comedy homage to Doctor Who.

Career: Battrick's first break came in 2009 when she began playing 15-year-old band member Toyah Swann in CBBC show My Almost Famous Family. She later starred in The Indian Doctor, Benidorm, Casualty, Doctors and Some Girls. In 2014, she joined the cast of Waterloo Road as precocious teen Gabriella Wark. Her film credits include Una Noche (2012) and Blood (2012).
Quote: On her Waterloo Road character: 'It's very flattering that anybody would still think I could pass as a schoolgirl.'
Trivia: She had to dye her blonde hair red for her role in My Almost Famous Family.
