Ian McShane (Actor) .. Lovejoy
Born: September 29, 1942 in Blackburn
Best Known For: Playing antiques dealer Lovejoy.
Early-life: Ian David McShane was born on September 29, 1942, in Blackburn, Lancashire, but grew up in Urmston. He's the son of Scottish footballer Harry McShane, who was playing for Blackburn Rovers at the time, and his wife Irene. Despite considering a career in football, he knew he would never be as good as his dad, and turned to acting instead. He trained alongside Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art during the early 1960s.
Career: McShane's first film was 1962's The Wild and the Willing. After that, he built a reputation as a fine stage actor thanks to various West End productions. His first starring role came in 1966's Skywest and Crooked, which co-starred Hayley Mills and was directed by her actor father John. He played Heathcliff in an acclaimed TV adaptation of Wuthering Heights and gained plaudits for such productions as Roots, Jesus of Nazareth and Disraeli. McShane became a household name thanks to Lovejoy in 1986, and even appeared in Dallas. Other projects include Deadwood (for which he won a Golden Globe award), Sexy Beast, Kings, 44 Inch Chest, The Pillars of the Earth, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Jack the Giant Slayer.
Quote: 'There are times when I think this is such a silly business, that a lad from Manchester should be doing a real job.'
Trivia: Divorced twice, but has been happily married to actress Gwen Humble since 1981. He has two grown-up children.
Chris Jury (Actor) .. Eric Catchpole
Dudley Sutton (Actor) .. Tinker Dill
Linda Gray (Actor) .. Cassandra Lynch
Born: September 12, 1940 in Santa Monica, California
Best Known For: Playing Sue Ellen in Dallas.
Early-life: Born Linda Ann Gray on September 12, 1940, in Santa Monica, California. Her father Leslie was a watchmaker, her mother came from Bucharest and later married a Romanian prince. Linda's younger sister, Betty, died from breast cancer in 1989. She also has a stepsister called Maria. The acting bug bit when Linda was still a child, and she regularly organised plays involving her friends, but she started out as a model before becoming an actress.
Career: Gray's first screen appearance came in Palm Springs Weekend in 1963, but she had an 11-year break from film and TV before landing a role in a Marcus Welby, MD episode. One-off parts in various drama series followed before she had regular stints in All That Glitters, Murder in Peyton Place and Emergency! She was an original member of the Dallas cast, and played JR's long-suffering wife Sue Ellen from 1978 until the series' end in 1991; she returned to the glossy soap when it was revamped in 2012. Other projects include Lovejoy, Melrose Place, Models Inc and The Bold and the Beautiful. She's also tackled theatre roles, even appearing nude in a West End version of The Graduate in 2001.
Quote: On Dallas: 'I think people love entertainment like that. If you do it right and the writing is well done, I think people will tune in. Desperate Housewives had humour, a little satire going on... Sue Ellen was the original desperate housewife.'
Trivia: She was fired during the 8th season of Dallas (1978) after she asked producers to let her direct a few episodes of the series. Her job was spared when Larry Hagman threatened to walk out in protest.
Brian Blessed (Actor) .. Harry Catapodis

Best Known For: His booming voice.
Early-life: Born October 9, 1937, in Mexborough, South Yorkshire, but grew up the son of a coal miner in nearby Goldthorpe. He developed a passion for exploring as a youngster, but was bitten by the acting bug in his teens and appeared in many amateur dramatic productions alongside the likes of Keith Barron and Patrick Stewart. He left school at 14 and helped support his family via a variety of jobs after his father was injured in an accident at work. Brian eventually joined the Bristol Old Vic, where he studied with Peter O'Toole.
Career: Blessed started out on the stage, but gained fame playing Fancy Smith in Z Cars from 1962 to 1965. He's rarely been out of work since and has tackled a wide variety of roles on TV, stage and in films. Among his most memorable projects are Henry VIII and his Six Wives, I, Claudius, Flash Gordon, The Black Adder, Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing and Hamlet. More recently, he featured in Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace and Oliver Stone's Alexander. In 2014, he was the subject of an edition of Who Do You Think You Are? He is in constant demand for voiceover work.
Quote: 'We're frightened of silence. We all need 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness, like Jesus Christ.'
Trivia: Away from showbusiness, Blessed has attempted to scale Everest on numerous occasions and recorded directions for a satnav device after a campaign by his fans on a social networking site.
