The co-hosts were undefeated in all matches here at those two tournaments, with arguably the most memorable of those encounters seeing them defeat Bulgaria 2-0 in the last-16 in 1986, in front of a crowd of 114,560 people. There has only been one previous meeting between these nations, which resulted in a 2-1 victory for the Czechs in a friendly tournament staged in Hong Kong in February 2000, and so with little experience of facing each other the co-hosts will look to take advantage of playing on home soil in a stadium that has been historically kind to them
